Speaker Bios:

Katherine Priester
     Chancellor Katie Priester is an East Tennessee State University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Chancellor Priester obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Memphis. After obtaining her law degree, Chancellor Priester returned to Kingsport, Tennessee and began practicing law as a sole practitioner. During her practice Chancellor Priester handled a wide range of civil, probate and criminal cases in state and federal courts. In 2013, Chancellor Priester was appointed as the Clerk and Master for Sullivan County by Chancellor E.G. Moody. Chancellor Priester served as Clerk and Master for Sullivan County until August 2022.   On September 1, 2022, Chancellor Priester was sworn in as Chancellor for the 2nd Judicial District. Chancellor Priester currently handles all of the probate cases filed in the 2nd Judicial District.

Matthew T. McDonald
     Matt was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for his bachelor’s degree and the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, where he earned a master’s degree in religious studies, focusing on Chinese language and civilization. Following graduate school, Matthew taught at Maryville College. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2014 and spent six years as the law clerk and Chief Deputy Clerk and Master for the Knox County Chancery Court.  In September 2020, Matthew joined Bernstein, Stair & McAdams in Knoxville.
Matt is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association and serves as Co-Chair of the KBA Judicial Committee. He is an active member of the American Inns of Court and serves as a Hearing Officer for the City of Knoxville Civil Service Merit Board.
In his free time, he enjoys fly fishing and spending time with family.
