
Dawn Coppock is the author of Coppock on Tennessee Adoption Law, now in the 8th edition.
In 2025, she retired from the practice of law after 37 years. For her last 30-plus years, her practice was limited to adoption, termination of parental rights, and child welfare. She continues to consult, mediate, and operate Good Law, a publishing and legal education company.
Ms. Coppock received her J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia, and her B.S. from Carson-Newman College, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Ms. Coppock is a member of the Knoxville, Sevierville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations. She remains active on the executive committee of the TBA’s Adoption Law Section. Ms. Coppock is a Tennessee Rule 31 mediator. In 2004, she was named an Angel in Adoption by the U.S. Congressional Coalition on Adoption. Ms. Coppock is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has twice been listed among the best lawyers in Tennessee by Tennessee Business magazine.
Ms. Coppock lives with her husband, Kyle, on the family farm in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, where they garden, keep bees, kayak, travel, and attend the French Broad United Methodist Church. They have 3 adult children and two grandchildren.
